What is the Holland energy program?
The Holland Home Energy Retrofit Program is a local program that helps qualified homeowners make energy efficiency improvements and home upgrades to their Holland, MI home with financial incentives available through the Holland Energy Fund. About 10 to 12 years ago, a concerned group of citizens started down this path to put together one of the best home efficiency programs in Michigan. It took them a little while but that is exactly what they’ve done. They incorporated many, many facets of our energy use in the city and in our homes.
Among the benefits you’ll see after qualifying and working with WMGB on your home retrofit project:
- A free healthy home assessment and energy audit for your Holland, MI home
- A Holland city grants cover as much as 20 percent of your home improvement costs and insulation upgrades
- Additional BPW and Semco rebates for your Michigan home performance upgrades—up to $3,500
- Between the city grant and utility rebates, homeowners can save as much as $6,500!
- Ongoing energy bill savings of 15-25% after work is completed
- Pearl home certification, which adds tangible value to your house—they sell for an average of 5% more
- A more healthy, comfortable, and safe home worked on by the leading insulation contractor in Holland, MI—we’re responsible for over 85% of all Holland Home Energy Retrofit Program home improvement work!
What’s more, you have the benefit of on-bill financing at a very low rate of 4.99% and very easy to qualify for. On-bill financing can even be passed on to the next owner of your home if you decide to sell it.
On top of reduced upfront costs, making home performance improvements and upgrades to the insulation in your Holland, MI house will lead to significant utility bills savings. Think of upgrading with a Holland insulation contractor like WMGB as an investment in your house that will pay off for years to come—and if you add together all the available incentives, most homeowners will only spend about half of what the project would cost otherwise. That’s a 50% upfront savings!
What is the Governor’s Excellence Award?
The Governor and his team have done a lot to improve the energy efficiency programs for the state of Michigan. In fact, we are now in the top ten of states in the nation, and we didn’t start out that way four years ago.
So, the governor decided to begin an annual recognition of some of the top programs, utilities, cities and municipalities, and home performance and insulation contractors in the state.
In 2018, we were nominated for, and won, Contractor of the Year. Honored (and even a little surprised), we are really proud of the job we do and the team that makes it happen here at WMGB Home Improvement. We have a dedicated group of building scientists with more experience at doing audits and weatherization than any company in the state of Michigan.
It feels good to help people by making their homes more healthy, comfortable and safer, and of course to help homeowners save energy.
